After any preliminary coordination, we're going to want to make sure there is a clear understanding of the expected partner relationships between NTP Inc and neighborhood organizations. Where appropriate, we'll make sure there is a mutual understanding that we'll spell out in a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that details the responsibilities and expectations of all parties. [We do not require formal agreements for informal verbal coordination. We will typically only suggest a Memorandum of Understanding in those situations that will involve many interactions over an extended period.]
Memorandum of Understanding - NTP Inc and Sponsor Organization. Where a neighborhood sponsor organization has been identified with a clear leadership role for the development and sustained operation of a neighborhood tutoring center, we propose a simple bilateral agreement between that organization and NTP Inc. A standard template for our Memorandum of Understanding with a Sponsor Organization can be reviewed and accessed here. The final document will be revised to reflect the mutually agreed upon responsibilities and expectations.
Memorandum of Understanding - NTP Inc and Multiple Organizations. Occasionally a situation arises where NTP Inc assumes the initial leadership role for the development of a neighborhood tutoring center while neighborhood organizational roles and responsibilities are worked out. In those cases, a multi-lateral Memorandum of Understanding will be initially developed among all the responsible parties. A suggested template for that Memorandum of Understanding can be reviewed and accessed here. When appropriate, this MOU will be superseded with a bilateral MOU between NTP Inc and the Sponsor Organization.
An Operational Handbook provides standard guidelines for the day-to-day operation of the tutoring center and helps to provide continuity among the various volunteer staff members. A suggested template for a Tutoring Center Operational Handbook is available here.
